Sunday Fun Day Scripture

Galatians 6:7- 8

The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others – ignoring God! – harvests a crop of weeds. All he will have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvest a crop of real life, eternal life.

I’m going to break this down in a way that I can understand for myself. I think this verse is telling us that if you keep on ignoring the fact that you are selfish, in the end you will have nothing. No friends or family will want to be around a selfish man. I think we want to believe that we will be happy in eternal life. How can we do that if we haven’t lived a peaceful life here on earth? If I was constantly to ignore my responsibilities, and be selfish to others, I would like to think no one would want to work with me or be around me. This is just simply my opinion and what this bible verse means to me. (which happens to be one of my favorites. Weeds can be plucked at any time, a fresh start can be made with new seeds. I think us as humans, we make mistakes. Some grow from them, others just don’t know how to pluck their weeds from their gardens. If we all planted big beautiful flowers and tended to them each day, don’t you think we would begin to feel better about the appearance and understanding of each other’s gardens?

If we start within ourselves, mending and correcting the way we look at others and non judging the negatives about other’s gardens, maybe we wouldn’t be so conflicted. If you plant the Lord inside of your heart maybe you can just see that a weed doesn’t have to stay a weed. It can grow into bigger and better things.
