Comfiness in the Third Trimester- TIPS and TRICKS
Let’s Face It- You will never be comfy.
The much anticipated but most dreaded trimester! It’s the one where you hear about sciatica pain, hip pain, pelvis pain, back pain, no sleep is accomplished, and you can hardly get around and move. Which all of that is true! I won’t lie to you!
There are just very little things that have helped me through this trimester. Some of these things you might not have or can’t get. This is just a guide on what has helped me and if it helps you too, then great! This will be a pretty short blog because let’s face it, the third trimester is what it is and you will never actually be comfy. The tips are just there to help possibly achieve it!
The Boppy Pillow
I know this one is mostly for nursing or baby to prop up on and have tummy time. If you have ever thought about it though, it makes for a great lower back prop. When I am laying in bed or my recliner, I wrap it around my lower back and it helps me not slouch as much. You know sometimes when you are sitting on the couch and there is a gap between your lower back and the couch? Your back will feel like that the entire third trimester. After all, you are carrying a lot of weight. You can click here to check it out.
The Heating Pad/Hot Hearts
Most people know what a heating pad is, well I would hope so anyway! The heating pad saved my life really my entire pregnancy. Of course you know with a heating pad, it has to be plugged into the wall the entire time and you really have to sit in the same spot with it! It works for me when I am resting or laying down! You can find a heating pad pretty much anywhere, and if you are interested in the one I have personally, you can click here!
What I really want to let you in on are these hot heart massagers! This is an item that my small business sales! I have two for myself and I have had one of these for over 2 years now!
How does it work?
How do these work? There is this little disc that floats around on the inside of the heart and all you have to do is flex or pop that disc. This will create a chemical reaction and the heart will heat up. The heart gets up to 129 degrees and will stay that way for about 45 minutes to an hour! When you are ready to reuse it, all you have to do is put it in a pot of boiling water for 10 minutes, and let it cool. It will bring it back to liquid state. You don’t have to do it right after you finish using it, just when you get ready to do it again. Do not microwave! To find this nifty product you can click here or on the image above! $18 dollars isn’t bad for something you can continue to reuse for years!
All the great things about these:
- Small enough to use in problem focused areas.
- My husband can use them to help massage spots on my back for me that are unreachable with lotion/oil and the heat from the heart.
- They are great for CRAMPS. PMS and Pregnancy cramps! Pregnancy cramps are like way stronger menstrual cramps toward the end. They SUCK.
- On the go. I can take these on the go with me. I don’t have to be plugged into the wall.
- If it’s cold, these are wonderful for winter time. You can stick them in your pockets and go!
My Exercise/Birth Ball
I just recently started using this for two reasons.
- It takes pressure off of my pelvis when I am sitting on it.
- It helps you dilate more.
It takes a lot of pressure off of your pelvis when sitting on one of these. There is a few different exercises you can do to help relieve some pain you are having. You can do hip thrusts, pelvic rolls, or bouncing. This also helps move the baby down! I try to sit on it at least an hour before bed time! It has helped with my sciatica pain to an extent too. You can click here or on the image to check out the one I have!
Last but not least, my recliner! If you don’t have one then you’re missing out in my opinion! They are pricey though unless you find them used. The one I have is from my grandad so it was basically free and it’s on it’s last leg. But I like it and it works for me when I really just can’t get comfortable in bed. His weight is pretty heavy now, so it actually feels better to sit up and sleep. Also keeps him off my ribs and lungs!
Different items work for different people. These items work good for me. They have saved me from being uncomfortable to the point that I am miserable. Please let me know what works for you! I’m intrigued to see if anything else might help!
